Appointment of accounting technology veteran Brian Austin to newly-created role signals significant outreach efforts to accountants in public and private practice

Austin brings 15 years of accounting-focused press and analyst relations experience to the newly-created position, which also signals a concerted, long-term push into the accounting practitioner community.
Austin most recently held Director-level public relations positions at SpeedTax, a provider of automated sales and use tax solutions recently acquired by CCH, and at Sage Software. He also co-founded the CloudSolutions Alliance, a CPA-focused educational collaborative comprised of Cloud, SaaS and paperless solution providers.
In this newly-created role, Austin will oversee Avalara’s outreach efforts to accountants in public practice and industry, and will work closely with industry organizations such as AICPA and state CPA societies to inform and educate accounting professionals about the role of technology in solving clients’ sales tax issues. In addition, Austin will also identify partnering opportunities with other accountant-facing Cloud and SaaS solution providers to demonstrate the value of tightly-integrated solution suites for streamlined firm operations and improved client service.
